Bar Bruis

Since 1 January 2024, Katrien and Kiki, together with their team, have been running Bar Bruis in the beautiful Old Abbey of Kortenberg. This marks a new chapter for Bar Bruis, with a clear mission: to make the abbey accessible to everyone and to create a warm place for connection, calm and shared experiences. Bar Bruis is a welcoming and accessible venue, open from Wednesday to Sunday. It is not a fine-dining restaurant, but a place with a living-room feel where young and old alike feel at home. In addition to the brasserie, Bar Bruis offers several unique rooms within the abbey for meetings, lectures, dinners and celebrations, as well as a chapel and a private inner garden with a stretch tent. Guests can also stay overnight in simple yet comfortable rooms. Bar Bruis was founded in 2019 from Katrien and Kiki’s dream of creating a place where families, friends and dogs are welcome. After several years in Erps-Kwerps, Bar Bruis moved to the Old Abbey of Kortenberg — a location with more space and history, while preserving the same warm atmosphere and values.
